Nomura: Trump unlikely to follow through on all tariff threats

Nomura analysts said in a research report that Trump is unlikely to fulfill all tariff threats. After delaying the car tariffs on Canada and Mexico for one month, there are signs that Trump will abandon the 25% tariffs on these two countries. As Trump uses some of his tariffs as negotiating tools, conflicts may fluctuate between escalation and de-escalation. However, Trump's actions in his first term indicate that he is willing to escalate trade conflicts regardless of market weakness and volatility.
