ConsenSys: MetaMask has a serious bug that causes excessive SSD writing, and a fix will be released soon

ConsenSys has confirmed that its MetaMask browser extension has a serious bug that causes abnormally high frequency of data writing to the solid state drive (SSD), reaching up to 500GB per day and accumulating up to 25TB within three months, significantly reducing the SSD's lifespan. This issue mainly affects users of Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome and Edge, and continues to write in the background even if the wallet is not being used. Some users have reported that this bug has consumed about 50% of their SSD's lifespan. ConsenSys has stated that they are aware of this issue and are actively investigating it. A fix is "soon" to be released, which will reduce the frequency of data writing and data retrieval.
