Analysis: Dollar would fall if Hassett or Malpass takes over as Fed governor

Gaccording to foreign media analysis, if US President Trump chooses Kevin Hassett or David Malpass to succeed Kugler as a Federal Reserve Board member, the dollar may weaken. This is because Hassett and Malpass are seen as more dovish than the other popular candidate for the position, Kevin Warsh. Trump will announce who will replace Kugler's position by the end of this week, and this candidate may also become the successor to Powell as Chairman of the Federal Reserve. Trump has narrowed down the candidates to four people: Hassett, Malpass, Warsh, and current Federal Reserve Board member Waller. Regardless of who Trump ultimately chooses to replace Kugler, the candidate is likely to advocate for the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates by more than 25 basis points in September.
